TruNorth Federal Credit Union, a thriving and community focused financial institution, is looking to grow its team with a dedicated Mortgage Loan Officer at the Marquette, MI branch. You'll play a vital role in underwriting mortgage and home equity loans while delivering top tier service to our members. The role demands attention to detail, an understanding of lending regulations, and the ability to work effectively within a close-knit team. This is a full-time, non-exempt position expected to work 40 hours per week primarily at our Marquette branch, with required training and occasional business need coverage at our Main Office in Ishpeming.
Primary Responsibilities:
Interview loan applicants and objectively underwrite a high volume of mortgage and home equity loans in accordance with established guidelines ensuring compliance with all rules and regulations. Monitor the status of home equity loans and mortgages in process. Follow up with members, realtors, appraisers, etc. to expedite the processing of applications. Ensure the successful delivery of mortgage loan services quickly, accurately, courteously, and in a confidential manner. Identify member needs and provide information regarding how the credit union's products and services can meet those needs including ancillary products (debt protection and other loan-related services). Provide quality member service ensuring the credit union's professional image is maintained by delivering services efficiently, in a professional manner, and in compliance with existing regulations and policies. Provide excellent internal and external member service and respond to all member inquiries promptly and professionally. Provide backup to other mortgage loan officers as needed
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of lending practices, regulations, etc. Knowledge of secondary market requirements Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Organized with good attention to detail ensuring high accuracy and low error rates Ability to work independently, take initiative, and exercise good judgment Ability to work as part of a team and communicate with team members Ability to maintain a calm demeanor in stressful situations Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner Ability to accurately and efficiently perform required computer tasks including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and other web-based applications Maintain a positive attitude and work proactively and collaboratively with others at all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.
