At On Tap Credit Union, our Loan Underwriters do more than review applications — they play a critical role in helping members achieve their financial goals while protecting the strength of our organization. If you enjoy analyzing details, making sound decisions, and partnering with a team that puts people first, this could be the role for you. What You'll Do Underwrite consumer loans across direct and indirect channels Analyze credit reports, financial statements, tax returns, and collateral Make sound lending decisions within authority and provide recommendations beyond limits Partner with retail teams to deliver exceptional member service and identify opportunities Review applications for quality, accuracy, and potential risk or fraud Support indirect lending, including dealer relationships and loan funding Monitor loan trends, delinquency patterns, and recommend risk mitigation strategies Stay current on lending regulations to ensure compliance Coach and support team members on loan submissions and processes Contribute to process improvements, product enhancements, and special projects What Makes You a Great Fit Strong analytical and decision-making skills Solid understanding of consumer lending and regulatory requirements Ability to balance risk with member experience Effective communicator who can collaborate across teams Detail-oriented with a proactive, problem-solving mindset Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required 2-5 years of lending or underwriting experience preferred Experience with indirect lending channels is a plus Familiarity with financial operations and documentation analysis NMLS registration (or ability to obtain) required Work Arrangement Upon learning and demonstrating competency in this role, you may be considered for a hybrid schedule (minimum 2 days onsite per week) Why Join On Tap Credit Union?
