Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO)
Location:
Lake Clarke Shores, FL (Central Palm Beach County - flexible hybrid structure)
Work Type:
Hybrid (Requires frequent local travel for community networking)
Compensation:
Commission-Based with Draw Months 1-6 (Ramp-up): $769.23 weekly base ($40,000 annualized rate) to allow time to build your pipeline. Month 6+: $495.19 weekly base ($25,750 annualized) plus uncapped commission/incentives for units funded and closed monthly. Position Overview We are looking for a motivated, community-driven Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) to expand our residential mortgage footprint in Florida. This is a hybrid role perfect for a self-starting "hunter" who thrives on building local networks, partnering with realtors, and helping members achieve homeownership. While you will inherit inbound leads directly from our branches, your main focus will be hitting the pavement to generate new business.
Key Responsibilities Business Development:
Actively build relationships with realtors, builders, and community groups to source new mortgage leads.
Loan Origination:
Guide members through the entire mortgage process—from taking the initial application and pulling credit to structuring the loan and issuing pre-approvals (using AUS "Approve Eligible").
Community Engagement:
Conduct homebuyer education seminars, attend industry trade shows, and represent the Credit Union at local networking events.
Branch Liaison:
Serve as the go-to mortgage expert for your assigned branch locations, educating branch staff on current rates and products.
Compliance:
Maintain a strong working knowledge of regulatory compliance, including the SAFE Act, conventional, and government loan guidelines.
Requirements SAFE Act Compliant:
Must have an active NMLS license/registration or be able to become bondable/registered immediately.
Proven Sales Track Record:
Demonstrated experience meeting or exceeding mortgage origination targets.
Local Network:
Strong existing relationships with local realtors and builders in Palm Beach County is highly preferred.
Technical Literacy:
Ability to collect financial data (tax returns, assets, income), run Automated Underwriting Systems (AUS), and manage pipeline software.
