This will not involve mortgage lending at all, so any candidates who primarily have mortgage lending experience will not be a fit. The position of Loan Assistant is primarily responsible for developing positive working relationships and processing loan requests for potential and existing borrowers. The Loan Assistant should have previous loan operations experience and possess good working knowledge of all lending regulations, possess the ability to meet all of the below listed Primary Job Functions and Job Requirements. In summary, this role specifically performs the collection, preparation, processing, completion of loan requests and packages. Their interaction in performing these assigned duties will be with the applicants/borrowers, bank staff, and applicable loan agents, and service providers. This position also includes the task of tracking potential loan production and the status of pending loans in process, and the monitoring of current loan file documentation, and will include monthly reporting to management (or as otherwise specified), as well as ongoing communication with loan customers in maintaining a current credit and collateral file. This role includes "front line" interaction with visitors, customers, staff, and vendors. This role will also include sharing the responsibility of lobby staff coverage, which includes: greeting and assisting lobby visitors, providing lobby staff presence and support in performing lobby duties, and providing customer financial need, as well as other duties as assigned by bank management.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
Serve as primary contact on loan applications and communicate with the lender on requests and perform the loan applications, prepare loan "CFR" (write-up), retrieve credit report of applicant(s), prepare loan packages for banks loan committee, and prepare loan documentation for loan operations. Process approved loan applications by preparing applicable checklists of required items, prepare "CFR" (loan write-up), prepare commitment letters and facilitate and coordinate collection of all required documentation to provide a complete loan file for disbursement and closing. Effectively manage customer contact (visits, emails, and phone calls) for loan requests and other financial matters, and relay and coordinate with lender in completing requests. Process applications for commercial, consumer, and SBA Loan applicants. Coordinate with Loan Ops on preparing loan documentation on all new and pending loans for your assigned lenders, as well as loan renewal requests. Prepare new loan application packets. Prepare required loan documentation for new/renewed loans, coordinate with loan ops for loan documentation support, and process the loan disbursement entries. Maintain current loan files for assigned lenders/borrowers. Process loan payments received at branch. Greet all lobby visitors pleasantly and assist them with their financial needs by either redirecting them to the correct staff member or process their requests. Answer the phone and process the callers request accordingly. Develop positive working relationships with customers and all personnel, foster a "team" attitude and support others as requested. Provide staff support for lobby services; train with Branch Manager on all lobby service duties: new account processing, debit card issuance, and teller line support. Ability to provide support to staff and perform other related duties as assigned by the assigned lenders at branch, your Branch Manager, VP of Loan Ops, or senior/executive management at the corporate location. Correctness in performing each task is required, as well as displaying a positive attitude in performing all assigned tasks.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge and proficiency with pre-closing and closing loan documentation, loan compliance documentation, and credit/collateral documentation for loan files. Good understanding of loan operation (back-office) tasks. Familiarity with financial institution duties and requirements. Proficiency in typing with accuracy, possess good grammar/writing skills, and familiarity with general office practices. Must be capable of effectively performing: detail-oriented tasks, ability to multi-task and prioritize assigned duties, good time management skills, ability to work independently on assigned tasks. Must understand and apply discretion and good judgment in performing all duties. Computer experience required (at a minimum): MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows. Good verbal communications skills (with proficiency in the English language). Positive attitude and desire to work in "team" environment. Must be US Citizen authorized to work in the United States. Must possess reliable transportation. Must be physically capable to work in a fast paced "front-line" environment that will include face-to-face interaction with the public. Ability to function in a routine work schedule, must work at least 40 hours/week. Adherence to all bank policies and banking regulations. Flexibility to work at another branch location for staff support needs, if requested by management. Flexibility and openness to meeting customers on-site or other business development opportunities. Must provide exemplary customer service in person and over the phone. Participation in bank's Mission Statement and support of a positive working environment.
JOB HOURS
The position of Lending Assistant is a full-time position, requiring a 40 hour work week, with a consistent schedule M-F 8am-5pm, although the work hours for each day may fluctuate due to assignment of daily duties and customer demands.
GENERAL WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to communicate effectively with others, sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle keyboard, telephone, paper, files, and other equipment and objects. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to review detailed documents and read computer screens. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. The work environment requires appropriate interaction with others.
