Loan Closing Administrator Location:
Fully In-Office (5 days a week) Phoenix or Chandler, AZ Irvine, CA Denver, CO Las Vegas, NV Midvale, UT Houston, TX About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Real Estate (CRE) Loan Closing Administrator to join Zions Bancorporation. The Loan Closing Administrator plays a key role in supporting the closing of our most complex commercial real estate transactions, ensuring exceptional accuracy, risk management, and compliance throughout the entire documentation and due diligence process. This position leverages strong analytical, research, and communication skills to interpret sophisticated loan and legal documents, resolve unique closing issues, and protect the bank's collateral and lien positions. Additionally, the Loan Closing Administrator provides leadership within the team, offering guidance, training, and mentorship to less experienced Closers. In this role, you will interact closely with relationship managers, underwriters, credit officers, external legal counsel, and commercial borrowers throughout the closing process, serving as a key partner in driving successful transaction outcomes and ensuring an exceptional client experience.
Key Responsibilities Deal Analysis & Condition Management:
Review complex commercial real estate credit approvals for actionable closing conditions, terms, loan structure, compliance, appropriate lending authority, and proper lien perfection guidelines.
Collateral & Lien Perfection:
Perform detailed analysis of title insurance commitments, exception documents, and
ALTA/NSPS
land surveys. Identify and resolve title and survey issues, ensuring appropriate ALTA extended title endorsements are secured prior to closing.
Construction & Risk Due Diligence:
Apply a solid working knowledge of commercial real estate loan principles, risk management, and construction due diligence (including cost breakdowns, builder plans, specifications, and contractor agreements) to safeguard bank assets.
Outside Counsel Coordination:
Partner with and manage external legal counsel on attorney-prepared loan documentation, complex loan documentation, and escrow closing instructions. Verify that all drafted documents align with credit approvals and policy guidelines.
Regular Client & Partner Collaboration:
Act as the central communication hub during the closing lifecycle. Maintain regular, proactive contact with corporate clients, relationship managers, title companies, escrow agents, and external legal counsel to expedite closings while maintaining strict bank standards.
Mentorship & Team Support:
Assist in training and mentoring less experienced Closers, serving as a technical resource for complex real estate closing structures.
Due Diligence & Compliance Verification:
Evaluate complex borrowing entity structures, review insurance, W-9s, and ensure compliance with federal regulations (Flood Disaster Protection Act/MIRE compliance, Beneficial Ownership/BOI standards).
Problem Resolution:
Resolve moderately complex to highly complex closing and documentation issues using sound judgment, working within established practices, policies, and regulatory guidelines. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications Experience:
6+ years of dedicated commercial real estate loan closing, CRE paralegal, or commercial real estate loan documentation experience in a complex commercial banking environment, including 4+ years of experience reading and interpreting loan and legal documentation or other directly related experience. Experience guiding, mentoring, or training peer-level team members is highly preferred. A combination of education and experience may meet requirements.
Technical CRE Expertise:
Thorough knowledge of commercial real estate closing processes, construction loan due diligence, commercial title insurance policies (including endorsements), real estate surveys, and escrow mechanics.
Legal Collaboration:
Proven experience collaborating with outside legal counsel on complex, custom-drafted real estate credit facilities.
Regulatory & Risk Knowledge:
Solid understanding of commercial real estate compliance requirements, particularly commercial Flood insurance rules (MIRE compliance), borrowing entity certification processes, and Beneficial Ownership (BOI) standards.
Skills & Competencies:
Exceptional accuracy, analytical thinking, and detail orientation with a proven ability to manage multiple high-priority, complex transactions simultaneously. Natural aptitude for peer leadership, training, and sharing knowledge with junior team members. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven track record of building positive relationships and maintaining professional contact with bankers, customers, escrow officers, and outside counsel during the closing process. Proficiency in commercial loan systems (such as nCino) and office productivity software (Word, Excel) to compile loan documentation and reporting.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in finance, business, real estate, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience/paralegal certification) is highly preferred.

$35
