Job Description
Commercial Lender About the Role This role is ideal for both experienced commercial lenders and individuals looking to build a career in commercial lending. We are open to candidates with strong financial acumen, relationship-building skills, and a desire to grow in a dynamic, client-focused banking environment. The Commercial Lender plays a key role in supporting the Bank's growth strategy by developing new business, expanding existing client relationships, and delivering exceptional customer service. This position is responsible for proactively identifying financial solutions, building strong community relationships, and helping clients achieve their business and financial goals. What You'll Do Relationship Development & Business Growth Develop and execute a structured calling plan to generate new business through referrals, Centers of Influence (COIs), and prospecting efforts. Build, maintain, and grow strong relationships with new and existing commercial clients. Conduct client meetings to understand financial needs and provide tailored lending and deposit solutions. Cross sell bank products and services to deepen client relationships and enhance portfolio value. Actively engage with COIs and community partners to generate referral opportunities and increase visibility of the Bank. Retain and grow existing loan relationships through proactive communication and ongoing financial guidance. Credit & Portfolio Management Monitor and manage a commercial loan portfolio to ensure strong credit quality and ongoing relationship health. Collect and review financial statements, borrowing base certificates, and other financial documentation to support credit decisions. Partner with Credit Administration to complete annual reviews for credits over $250,000. Identify early warning signs of credit deterioration and recommend appropriate action plans. Work collaboratively with Credit, Loan Operations, and other internal partners to ensure accurate and efficient loan servicing. Support the resolution of problem credits through proactive communication and corrective action planning. Client Service & Collaboration Provide responsive, high-quality service to clients through in-person meetings, phone, and electronic communication. Serve as a trusted financial partner by delivering timely solutions and recommendations. Collaborate closely with internal departments to ensure seamless onboarding, servicing, and ongoing support for clients. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in alignment with Bank policies and procedures. Community Involvement Actively participate in civic, charitable, or nonprofit organizations to strengthen community relationships. Represent the Bank in the community to support business development and enhance brand visibility. What You Bring Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field preferred We welcome candidates with a range of experience levels:
Experienced Commercial Lenders:
5+ years of commercial lending or related banking experience preferred. Early-Career /Developing Lenders:
Candidates with banking, credit training, business development, or strong financial sales experience are encouraged to apply. Training and development will be provided for the right candidate. Skills & Abilities Strong understanding of or ability to learn commercial lending products, credit analysis, and banking regulations. Demonstrated ability to build relationships and develop new business opportunities. Strong analytical and financial reasoning skills. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams. High level of integrity, professionalism, and customer focus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and banking or CRM systems preferred. Formal credit training is a plus but not required for early-career candidates.
