SUMMARY:
The Mortgage Closer is responsible for supporting the Residential Lending Team in administrative duties related to the closing and funding process of mortgage loans. They operate under general supervision but follow specific operating procedures. They utilize various software tools to prepare loan files for closing. The Mortgage Closer plays a crucial role in the real estate lending process by ensuring that all administrative tasks related to mortgage closings are completed accurately and efficiently. They must possess strong organizational, communication, and computer skills, as well as the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Any duties outside of the scope of this job description must be approved in advance by a duly appointed supervisor to the incumbent of this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Documentation Verification:
Verify that basic required documentation for closing is present in loan files.
Generating Closing Instructions:
Use O/C and Doc Magic software to generate closing instructions and forward them to the applicable title company.
Internal Payoff Generation:
Generate internal AFCU payoffs as needed using Mortgage Servicer and Episys.
Communication and Follow-Up:
Follow up on loan files with title companies via email/phone and maintain notes in Synapsys as necessary.
Workload Management:
Assign loan files to closers when scheduled closing dates are received from title companies, ensuring an even distribution of workload.
Calendar Management:
Add loan file closing dates to the Outlook Closings calendar as they are scheduled.
Record Keeping:
Maintain a running total of loan file closings and records month-to-month.
Document Management:
Upload member documents provided into the E-Doc Manager system as needed.
Utilizing Core Systems:
Utilize the Credit Union's core system to retrieve member account information, member profiles, etc.
Works Independently:
Performs daily tasks with minimal supervision.
Other Responsibilities:
Perform other duties as assigned.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Must have a good working knowledge of the credit union, including workflow, legal requirements, and staff utilization. Ability to work with a team while maintaining confidentiality, diplomacy, tact, and professionalism. Proficiency in contemporary software word-processing programs. Demonstrated qualities of a self-starter, organized, dependable, and professional individual. And other department wide projects and tasks as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience Strong administrative and organizational skills are required. Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine correspondence, and effectively communicate with other employees. Basic mathematical skills required for financial operations. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions and solve problems. Any applicable system or program knowledge: Proficiency in operating word-processing equipment, laser printers, photocopiers, and fax machines. Full knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Familiarity with credit union terminology and acronyms commonly used in communication within the credit union system.

Physical Demands:
Sitting for long periods at a time. Regularly required to talk or listen. Occasional lifting of office supplies up to 20 lbs. Vision abilities including close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Must understand and follow a set of clear oral and/or written procedures without deviation. Performs repetitive routine tasks. Withstand moderate amounts of stress. Must adhere to a provided work schedule to meet a set of qualitative production standards. Perform tasks that vary little from day to day.
