This position will be housed ON-SITE at either of our Tecumseh or Adrian locations.
JOB SUMMARY
The Mortgage Lending Representative is a developmental position designed to provide hands-on experience and training in the mortgage lending process with the goal of preparing the individual to become a successful Mortgage Lender. The role will develop knowledge and proficiency in loan origination, credit analysis, underwriting guidelines, compliance requirements, and mortgage products. The individual will work closely with experienced mortgage professionals to gain practical knowledge of the lending process from application through closing. Responsibilities will progressively increase as skills and knowledge are developed, including assisting with client interactions, gathering and reviewing loan documentation, and supporting loan production activities. The position requires a strong commitment to learning, attention to detail, client service, and the ability to build effective relationships with borrowers and internal partners. Key Responsibilities Develop mortgage lending knowledge by participating in structured training and on-the-job learning to build knowledge of mortgage products, loan programs, credit requirements, underwriting guidelines, and the overall mortgage lending process. Assist with loan origination activities by supporting Mortgage Lenders with loan applications, documentation, disclosures, and other activities involved in originating and processing mortgage loans. Develop the ability to effectively communicate with prospective and existing borrowers, understand their financing needs, answer questions, and provide a positive lending experience. Assist in gathering, organizing, and reviewing borrower information and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy while developing an understanding of credit and financial analysis. Maintain compliance and risk awareness by learning and consistently following applicable lending laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure mortgage lending activities are conducted accurately and compliantly. Build relationships with borrowers, real estate professionals, and internal partners while learning effective strategies for generating and developing mortgage lending opportunities. Demonstrate increasing knowledge, skill, and proficiency in mortgage lending responsibilities, with the goal of transitioning into a Mortgage Lender role capable of independently managing customer relationships and loan opportunities.
Qualifications Required:
High School diploma or equivalent Previous experience in banking, financial services, sales, client services, or related field
