WHITEFISH CREDIT UNION POSTION DESCRIPTION
Position title: Loan Assistant I - Commercial and Mortgage Organizational relationships:
Vice President Mortgage Loan Manager Supervisory Responsibilities:
N/A General Functions:
Under direct supervision, assist Commercial and Mortgage Loan Originators with variety of tasks in order to ensure smooth and profitable loan originations. Gather all types of financial and other information from members and outside agencies for analysis and underwriting of commercial and mortgage loans.
Position Functions:
Administer the loan origination process alongside and in assistance to Commercial and Mortgage Loan Originators. This includes, but is not limited to: Keep progress reports up to date and alert Originator of any red flags and/or the need for additional items. Research and obtain subject property information from available sources - Cadastral, county sites, listing information, property tax bill. Upload to borrower folder and Image Flow. Assist in preparing Appraisal Request Form and Property Summary Form. Set up new loan files and assist with getting documents to borrowers for signature. Input new loan data into applicable LOS systems. Prepare disbursement checks on commercial loans when needed. Prepare modification requests to be sent to Credit Admin or Underwriting. Assist as needed in closing process; attend closings at title companies in Loan Originator's absences, including reviewing documents with members as well as obtaining all required signatures in the appropriate areas. Coordinate with Credit Admin to request and review new loan docs on commercial loans Work with title company to prepare settlement statement and coordinate delivery of loan documents on commercial loans Assist in sending financial request letters and maintain tickler system used for tracking financials. Answer phone and greet walk-in members in a competent and professional manner. Direct all inquiries to appropriate personnel. Take messages and coordinate appointments for Loan Originators; prepare documents, correspondence and spreadsheets as needed. Scan and upload documents to the correct categories of the applicable LOS system in preparation for assignment to loan underwriting and loan processing. Maintain license as Notary Public for the State of Montana. Report to work on time and as scheduled. Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing and over the phone with all internal and external stakeholders. Courtesy and tact are essential. Ability and willingness to interact calmly and professionally with people from all backgrounds. Ability to multi-task, prioritize and organize day-to-day responsibilities with attention to detail and timeliness. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to work with others in an effective manner, listen well, share work-related information and be tolerant of others' work styles. Competent with Microsoft Office; ability and willingness to work with a variety of office equipment and software systems. Ability to lift up to 15 lbs., with or without accommodation. Complete mandatory annual BSA training that includes Red Flag, Identity Theft, OFAC, CTR and SAR reporting and thresholds, as well as the safe keeping of member information, and passes any applicable tests. Follow all Whitefish Credit Union, Montana and Federal information privacy guidelines. Adhere to all Whitefish Credit Union policies and procedures. Protect Member and Whitefish Credit Union confidential information.
Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. 1-3 years banking experience required. Basic knowledge of consumer, real estate and commercial loan required.
