Role Description The Loan Officer Assistant with Processing Experience is a full-time, on-site role based in Melville, NY. This position supports loan officers by gathering and reviewing borrower documentation, verifying information, and preparing complete loan files for underwriting. Daily responsibilities include managing application data in the loan origination system, tracking conditions, communicating with borrowers, real estate agents, and internal teams, and ensuring that timelines and compliance requirements are met. The role also involves coordinating disclosures, following up on outstanding items, and helping maintain accurate records to support smooth closings. This team member plays a key role in providing a high level of service to borrowers and partners while supporting overall branch efficiency. Qualifications Experience in residential mortgage processing, including collecting and reviewing income, assets, credit, and property documentation. Familiarity with loan origination systems and common mortgage technology platforms, with strong data entry accuracy. Knowledge of conventional, FHA, VA, and other common loan products, and a basic understanding of agency guidelines and compliance requirements. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple files and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Clear written and verbal communication skills, including professional interaction with borrowers, loan officers, underwriters, and third-party partners. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify documentation issues and follow through to resolution. Customer service orientation and a collaborative approach to working in a branch or team setting. Prior experience as a Loan Officer Assistant, Processor, or in a similar mortgage support role preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or degree in finance, business, or a related field is beneficial. Ability to work on-site in Melville, NY and maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
