Night Auditor Job Description:
Job Purpose The Night Auditor is responsible for performing end-of-day procedures for the hotel Front Office and accounting for daily activities by organizing and verifying information, identifying and correcting discrepancies, posting accounts, and running and distributing daily reports. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Follow all specified procedures to audit the shift closing of all Front Office staff, including personally closing third shift and completing an audit summary for each shift. Produce accurate and timely reports and correctly handle all cash transactions. Provide relief support to the hotel PBX operator during shift. Maintain and post a daily balance of all house accounts, including running preliminary reconciliations, detailing transactions, and preparing final reports for accounting and profit centers. Reconcile cashier reports with the restaurant system each night, researching and posting any unresolved tickets from day shifts. Balance and audit room revenue, food and beverage revenue, cashier reports, guest and house accounts, and telephone revenue for accuracy. Assist in preparing all reports relevant to daily revenues. Transmit credit card batches. Complete and transmit daily management and accounting reports and supporting documentation. Act as the hotel system liaison during night hours. Perform all Guest Service Representative functions as required, including: Assisting with room reservations Answering hotel phone calls Notifying guests of messages Perform any and all additional duties assigned by management. Minimum Requirements The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions. High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred. Minimum of two years of experience in a related field (hospitality preferred). Proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience in high-volume establishments preferred. Strong technical proficiency with computer applications. Previous customer service experience required. Prior hotel front desk or night auditor experience preferred. Must be able to pass pre-employment screening, including drug testing and background checks. Must have full availability and be able to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to read, write, and speak English (multilingual skills are a plus). Ability to understand, follow, and provide written and verbal instructions. Ability to manage stressful situations and resolve conflicts involving guests and co-workers. Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and age ranges. Knowledge of leadership and conflict resolution techniques. Strong judgment and decision-making skills. Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing guest needs. Strong attention to detail. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Understanding of hospitality operating systems. Ability to provide quality customer service while handling multiple responsibilities. Strong computer skills and ability to perform cash-handling procedures. Mature, professional, detail-oriented, friendly, and responsible. Ability to work harmoniously with fellow employees and guests. Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions when necessary. Physical Requirements Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, sit, climb, reach overhead, and bend for periods of up to 3 hours per day. Ability to frequently lift up to 30 pounds to chest height for periods of up to 4 hours per day.
