Reports To:
Guest Services Manager / General Manager Job Purpose The Night Auditor is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of guest service, accuracy, cleanliness, and professionalism are maintained throughout the overnight shift. This position plays a critical role in both front desk operations and the nightly accounting functions of the hotel. The successful candidate will be committed to providing exceptional guest experiences while maintaining the accuracy of daily financial transactions and reports. The Night Auditor must demonstrate strong attention to detail, sound judgment, problem-solving abilities, and a positive, proactive approach to guest service and teamwork. Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities Guest Service & Front Desk Operations Perform guest check-ins and check-outs accurately and efficiently, paying close attention to detail. Ensure every guest receives exceptional customer service and a welcoming experience. Handle guest inquiries, requests, and concerns in a professional, courteous, and timely manner. Respond positively to guest complaints and service issues by identifying appropriate solutions and ensuring proper follow-up. Assist guests with information regarding hotel services, amenities, local attractions, restaurants, transportation options, and driving directions. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor when interacting with guests, team members, and vendors. Answer incoming telephone calls promptly and professionally while providing accurate information and assistance. Process reservations, room changes, and guest account updates as needed. Ensure guest confidentiality and security standards are consistently maintained. Night Audit & Financial Responsibilities Complete all nightly audit procedures in accordance with Marriott brand standards and hotel policies. Balance and reconcile daily hotel transactions, including room revenue, payment activity, and miscellaneous charges. Verify guest folios and ensure all charges are accurately posted. Investigate and resolve discrepancies between the Property Management System (PMS) and other hotel systems. Balance end-of-day transactions between the PMS and any applicable Point of Sale (POS) systems. Prepare and distribute required daily reports for hotel management and ownership. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to night audit activities. Assist with basic accounting, reporting, and data entry functions as assigned. Property Operations Conduct routine property inspections and security walks during overnight hours. Monitor hotel safety and security and report any unusual activity or maintenance concerns. Ensure the front desk, lobby, breakfast area, and guest-facing spaces remain clean, organized, and presentable. Assist with overnight operational needs and guest requests. Complete assigned tasks and responsibilities as delegated by the management team. Ensure all duties are completed before the end of the shift and communicate any outstanding items to the incoming team. Teamwork & Communication Work collaboratively with all hotel departments to ensure a seamless guest experience. Maintain effective communication between shifts to support operational continuity. Support fellow team members and contribute to a positive workplace culture. Participate in hotel meetings, training sessions, and ongoing development opportunities as required. Qualifications Experience Required One (1) to two (2) years of experience in a customer service-oriented role preferred. Previous hotel, hospitality, front desk, or night audit experience considered a strong asset. Experience working with Marriott systems or hotel Property Management Systems (PMS) is an asset but not required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Familiarity with standard office equipment such as printers, scanners, photocopiers, and multi-line telephone systems. Post-secondary education in Hospitality, Business, Accounting, or a related field is considered an asset. Working Conditions Must be available to work overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays as required. Typical shift hours are 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Must be comfortable working independently during overnight hours. Requires standing, walking, and moving throughout the property for extended periods. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Fast-paced hospitality environment with frequent guest interaction.
