Job Description

Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Night Auditor to join our team at the Comfort Inn in Klamath Falls, OR. The Night Auditor is the face of our hotel during the overnight hours. This role involves balancing the daily financial transactions of the hotel, running end-of-day reports, and rolling the hotel's computer system over to the next day. In addition to accounting duties, you will act as the overnight Front Desk Agent, assisting guests with late check-ins, early check-outs, and any overnight requests while ensuring the safety and security of the property.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial & Auditing Duties:
Perform the daily "Night Audit" process to close out the business day and roll the system over to the next day. Reconcile all daily room charges, cash transactions, and credit card payments. Identify and correct any accounting discrepancies from the previous day's shifts. Generate, print, and distribute daily financial and occupancy reports for hotel management. Balance and secure the front desk cash drawer.
Guest Service & Front Desk Duties:
Welcome and check in late-arriving guests and process early-morning check-outs. Answer overnight phone calls, make reservations, and assist guests with inquiries. Promptly and professionally handle any guest complaints or requests that arise during the night. Process wake-up calls for guests.
Operations & Security Duties:
Begin early-morning prep for the complimentary Comfort Inn breakfast (e.g., brewing coffee, setting out utensils, preparing hot items). Maintain a clean and tidy lobby, front desk, and breakfast area. Act as the primary point of contact for any overnight emergencies. Perform routine walks of the property to ensure guest safety and property security. Communicate any maintenance issues, security concerns, or guest situations to the morning shift and management via the daily logbook.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous hotel front desk, night audit, or basic bookkeeping/accounting experience is highly preferred. Familiarity with the Choice
ADVANTAGE
Property Management System is a major plus, but we will train the right candidate. Strong basic math skills and proficiency with computers. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent problem-solving skills and a calm, professional demeanor. Must be able to stay awake, alert, and focused during the overnight shift.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (bringing out breakfast supplies, moving luggage if needed).
Benefits:
Paid time off Choice hotel employee discounts
Uniform Pay:
From $14.05 per hour Application Question(s): This position requires working the overnight shift (11:00 PM to 7:00 AM). Are you available to work these hours consistently, including weekends and holidays? Imagine it is 3:00 AM, the hotel is perfectly quiet, but the property management system suddenly freezes, and you cannot check the computer. What are the first three things you do to troubleshoot or manage the situation until the morning manager arrives? A weary traveler walks into our Comfort Inn at 2:00 AM after a grueling 12-hour drive. The check-in process takes about three minutes. Besides just handing them their room key, what is one specific thing you would say or do to make them feel immediately cared for?
