Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Payroll Supervisor, Manager, or Director to oversee payroll operations for a wholesale distribution company in Sacramento, California. This role is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will lead a team of payroll professionals, drive process improvements, and ensure seamless execution of payroll activities.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee all payroll processes, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Ensure proper handling of employee data updates, including onboarding, terminations, status changes, and pay adjustments.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, payroll regulations, and best practices across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Coordinate and facilitate audits by providing necessary documentation to auditors and legal teams.
  • Identify and implement improvements to payroll systems, software, and procedures, including testing and change management.
  • Execute year-end activities such as W2 processing and payroll tax filings.
  • Supervise and manage the payroll department staff, including hiring, training, assigning tasks, and evaluating performance.
  • Respond to inquiries from employees, management, and government agencies regarding payroll-related matters.
  • Collaborate with IT and HR teams to address system errors, enhance payroll processes, and manage special projects.
