Payroll Manager

Description We are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee accurate and timely payroll operations for a large, geographically diverse workforce based in San Francisco, California. This Long-term Contract position will support payroll administration for approximately 3,000 employees across domestic and international populations, requiring strong judgment, attention to detail, and clear communication. The ideal candidate brings a hands-on approach, thrives in a collaborative environment, and can manage complex payroll activities across multiple employee types and jurisdictions.

Responsibilities:

• Lead end-to-end payroll processing for a workforce of about 3,000 employees on a twice-monthly schedule, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
• Administer payroll activities for employees across the United States and an international employee population spanning 13 countries
• Manage payroll for a predominantly salaried workforce while ensuring proper handling of hourly employee pay requirements
• Oversee payroll operations within Workday Payroll and support related payroll processes and reconciliations
• Partner with internal teams to address payroll questions, resolve discrepancies, and maintain a high level of service
• Assist with organizational payroll-related initiatives and process support as business needs evolve
• Review payroll data, deductions, taxes, and earnings to ensure alignment with company policies and regulatory requirements
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders at different levels while contributing as a practical, team-oriented individual focused on getting the work done Requirements
• 5+ years of payroll experience, including full-cycle payroll ownership in a high-volume environment
• Demonstrated experience processing payroll for employee populations exceeding 500 employees
• Strong background in multi-state payroll administration and compliance
• Experience managing payroll for both domestic and international employee groups
• Hands-on knowledge of Workday Payroll; experience with ADP Workforce Now is also valued
• Ability to support payroll for both salaried and hourly employees with a high degree of accuracy
