Job Description
Job DescriptionJob Description The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing payroll, maintaining accurate timekeeping records, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws. This role manages payroll-related transactions including earnings, deductions, and benefits integration, while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality. The position also supports expatriate payroll processing, including cross-border payroll elements and tax considerations. In addition, this role plays a key part in establishing payroll processes, systems, and compliance frameworks during the initial setup phase of the organization. Roles and Responsibilities
- Process payroll accurately and on time, including regular, overtime, and off-cycle payments
- Maintain and validate employee timekeeping records
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws (e.g., FLSA)
- Manage payroll deductions including taxes, benefits, and garnishments
- Reconcile payroll data and support payroll tax filings and reporting
- Process expatriate payroll, including allowances and cross-border considerations
- Coordinate with HR, Finance, and external vendors on payroll and compliance matters
- Support payroll system implementation (e.g., ADP) and initial setup of payroll processes
- Establish and maintain payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Maintain payroll records with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality Respond to employee payroll-related inquiries and support audits Minimum Education
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Major in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or statistics Minimum Skills and Experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ethical and professional conduct with a high level of confidentiality
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now system
- Understanding of U.S. employment laws (FLSA, OSHA, EEOC, state-specific requirements)
- Strong data management skills and experience with HRIS or timekeeping systems Preferred Education
- Master's degree in accounting, finance, business, etc.
- CPP Certification. Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience in a manufacturing environment and with union contracts / agreements.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations Employment Conditions During the initial setup phase of the company, employer-sponsored benefits (including health insurance) may not be immediately available upon hire.
