Payroll Manager Location:
Niles, MI (onsite) About the Opportunity for a
Payroll Manager:
  • Join a stable and growing organization where compliance, accuracy, and process improvement are valued.
  • This is a strategic payroll leadership role focused on oversight — not daily payroll processing.
  • Partner closely with HR and Finance to ensure payroll tax compliance, garnishment accuracy, and regulatory alignment. Overview of the Payroll Manager role:
  • Oversee payroll tax filings, compliance, and reporting to ensure federal, state, and local accuracy.
  • Review and audit garnishments, levies, and deductions to ensure proper calculation and remittance.
  • Monitor payroll processes, controls, and system accuracy; identify and implement improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, multi-state payroll regulations, and internal policies.
  • Partner with HR and Finance on audits, reporting, and year-end activities (W-2s, tax reconciliations, etc.).
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for payroll compliance and regulatory updates. Preferred Qualifications for the Payroll Manager role:
  • 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including payroll tax and garnishment oversight.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Experience in a supervisory or payroll oversight capacity.
  • ERP/payroll system experience and strong Excel skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
