LifeSource is hiring a Payroll Partner to provide strategic and operational leadership for the organization's end to end payroll ecosystem, with specialized expertise in healthcare payroll environments. This role ensures the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of all payroll cycles - including bi weekly, special, and supplemental payrolls - while addressing the complexities of multi state regulations, varied shift schedules, differentials, on call pay, and other healthcare specific pay practices. The Payroll Partner serves as a trusted subject‑matter expert and process owner, maintaining rigorous standards for data integrity, compliance, and confidentiality. As the organization grows and evolves, this position proactively evaluates, designs, and enhances payroll processes, systems, and controls to support scalability, operational efficiency, and an excellent employee experience. Collaboration with People & Culture, Finance, and system partners is essential to align payroll operations with organizational strategy and changing workforce needs. This role exercises significant independent judgment and discretion in interpreting regulations, resolving complex payroll issues, and determining appropriate courses of action to ensure compliance and organizational alignment. As a Payroll Partner, you'll advance our life-saving work by performing the following job responsibilities: Partner with the People & Culture Director to develop and execute payroll strategy, priorities, and key initiatives, including policy interpretation and governance decisions. Oversee end-to-end payroll system processes, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll for all hourly and salaried employees, including multi-state payrolls. Oversee and hold accountability for bi‑weekly payroll execution, including final audit, approval, and validation of payroll and timekeeping data. Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related questions, providing clear, timely, and confidential support to employees and leaders Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and organizational policies Process payroll changes such as new hires, terminations, pay changes, bonuses, retro pay, garnishments, and tax changes Define, govern, and oversee payroll and timekeeping system configuration, including time codes, accrual logic, and regulatory updates, ensuring alignment with compliance and business needs. configuration, including time codes, accruals, State and Federal Regulation updates and ongoing maintenance Support payroll, timekeeping, and benefits system testing, upgrades, and training for end user experience. Analyze payroll data and system performance to identify process improvements, troubleshoot complex payroll issues, and ensure alignment with evolving tax, garnishment, and reporting requirements. Partner with People & Culture, Finance, and external vendors to resolve payroll issues and support all audits. In collaboration with the HRIS Payment Services ensure to complete Quarterly and Year end filing requirements in accordance State and Federal law. Identify and implement opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and employee self‑service tools Review payroll results, and system data to maintain integrity across HR, timekeeping, and payroll platforms. Collaborate with People & Culture, Legal, IT, Finance and Tax to support compliance, employee data accuracy, audits, and payroll system effectiveness. Serve as the organization's advisor on payroll compliance, risk mitigation, and payroll‑related policy interpretation. Works with IT, HRIS, and other key stakeholders to optimize systems configuration. This is a full-time position. Hybrid on-site in Minneapolis, MN. QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to 7+ years in payroll, accounting, or related area. Requires a minimum of 5 years of payroll processing experience CPP, FPC, or equivalent certification preferred Experience with cloud-based payroll systems, timekeeping (HRIS/UKG). Demonstrated experience making discretionary decisions in complex or ambiguous regulatory environments. Extensive knowledge of multi‑state payroll tax compliance Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office applications Experience in healthcare and HR support roles Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively; highly organized, detail‑oriented, and analytical Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport across diverse groups Demonstrated integrity and strict adherence to confidentiality Projected offer range : $80k-98k, depending on relevant professional experience.
