Roles & Responsibilities:
Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates, including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates. Run payroll for various cycles (Off-cycle, Weekly, Bi-weekly, Monthly). Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions. Provide support for audits related to payroll and facilitate audits by supplying records and documentation to auditors. Implement processes and procedures to improve payroll efficiency and accuracy. Provide oversight and direction to Payroll union staff performing payroll tasks. Participate in the implementation and development of Client policies and procedures to maintain consistency and improve accounting operations. Ensure accurate withholding of deductions from employee pay in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. Oversee electronic payments of employee salaries, including direct deposit setup, payroll reversals, bank returns, and manual check replacements. Responsible for accurate and timely disbursements and reporting to third parties, including processing weekly and monthly interface files to Accounts Payable. Perform and review analyses of selected general ledger accounts, resolving reconciling items and accounting issues promptly. Manage all pension-related deductions, payments, and reporting for defined benefit plans, defined contribution plans, and NJ State pension plans (PERS and PFRS). Process inbound and outbound payroll interface files, ensuring compliance with file layout specifications, troubleshooting errors, and reconciling data. Oversee Client Pension Payroll, reviewing and approving pension calculations, refunds, deductions, taxes, direct deposit, and address changes. Provide guidance to clerical staff on payroll tasks and responsibilities. Run Discoverer reports and prepare detailed reports for third-party payments and management to facilitate payroll information flow. Conduct testing for periodic system upgrades. Perform other duties and miscellaneous projects as requested by management. Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external stakeholders.
Education, Experience & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field. 3-5 years of payroll experience. Relevant combinations of education and experience may substitute for the degree requirement. Experience with payroll processing.
Knowledge & Skills:
Knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, timekeeping, and accruals. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including spreadsheets, macros), Access databases, and other MS applications. Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
Payroll HCM (Oracle) experience. Discoverer or Orbit Report Writer experience a plus. LI_TSC About our
