About the Role The Manager, Payroll and Operations is responsible for the accurate, timely, and compliant delivery of payroll across the organization for the US and Canada with oversight of payroll in EU and India. This position provides end-to-end oversight of payroll operations, ensuring strong controls, regulatory compliance, and effective governance across payroll processes. The position partners closely with Human Resources, Finance, and other stakeholders to support compensation, benefits, equity programs, and employment changes impacting payroll. In addition, the role drives continuous improvement of payroll policies, systems, and processes to enhance efficiency, scalability, and employee experience. The role serves as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor on payroll-related matters across the organization and partners with Europe and India counterparts. This hybrid position is three days per week in Princeton, NJ. Responsibilities Payroll Operations & Compliance Provide end-to-end oversight of payroll operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across all US and Canada employee populations, with oversight of EU and India's payroll processes Establish, maintain, and continuously improve payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls related to payroll processing and timekeeping Oversee all aspects of payroll calculation and execution, including earnings, deductions, labor distribution, overtime, paid time off accruals, and withholding elections Manage two site-based payroll team members in a dotted line capacity Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, reporting requirements, and employer contribution obligations Lead payroll tax filings, reconciliations, audits, and responses to tax authority inquiries Maintain a strong control environment to support SOX compliance, audit readiness, and data integrity Financial Accuracy, Reporting & Controls Ensure accurate payroll reporting, reconciliations, and analysis to support Finance, HR, and external reporting needs Partner with Finance on payroll funding, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis Oversee resolution of complex payroll issues and discrepancies, serving as an escalation point for critical matters Ensure accurate maintenance of payroll data within HRIS and payroll systems Programs, Systems & Cross-Functional Partnership Partner closely with HR, Total Rewards, Finance, and Legal to support compensation actions, benefit deductions, equity programs, and employment changes affecting payroll Lead payroll vendor relationships and support payroll system enhancements, upgrades, and process optimization initiatives Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and employee experience Proactively ensure payroll processes are aligned with Oracle and systems capabilities. Oversight & Operational Governance Provide operational oversight of payroll resources to ensure service levels, deadlines, and compliance standards are consistently met Develop standards, controls, and documentation to support sustainable payroll operations and risk mitigation Serve as the payroll subject matter expert for internal stakeholders and leadership Skills / Competencies Demonstrated ability to manage and develop others either directly or in a dotted line capacity. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail. Strong project management and organizational abilities, capable of supporting multiple priorities. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or other data visualization tools. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments High integrity, professional judgment, and commitment to confidentiality. Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, regulated, and dynamic environment.
