Job Description
Description We are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee accurate and timely payroll operations for a large, multi-entity workforce based in New York, New York. This role is responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processing for both hourly and salaried employees while ensuring compliance across multiple states. The ideal candidate brings strong reconciliation expertise, a detail-oriented approach, and the ability to support payroll activities for approximately 800 employees.
Responsibilities:
- Manage complete payroll operations for three business entities, ensuring employees are paid correctly and on schedule.
- Process bi-weekly payroll for a workforce of approximately 800 hourly and salaried team members through TriNet.
- Review payroll data for accuracy, including earnings, deductions, taxes, and time-related inputs before final submission.
- Reconcile payroll registers, general ledger entries, and related reports to identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations across a multi-state employee population.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to address payroll questions, investigate issues, and provide timely resolution.
- Prepare payroll records, audit support, and documentation needed for reporting and internal controls.
- Support payroll-related system updates or process changes when needed, while minimizing disruption to regular payroll operations. Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience managing full-cycle payroll for employee populations of 800 or more.
- Demonstrated knowledge of payroll processing for both hourly and salaried employees.
- Hands-on experience handling multi-state payroll with a strong understanding of applicable tax and wage requirements.
- Background using payroll platforms.
- Proven ability to reconcile payroll data accurately and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
- Experience administering recurring payroll cycles, including bi-weekly and semi-monthly schedules.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage confidential information responsibly.
