Job Summary The Payroll Lead is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for the organization. This role involves managing day-to-day payroll operations, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and providing leadership and support to payroll staff. The Payroll Lead will play a key role in process improvement, reporting, and addressing complex payroll issues. Key Responsibilities Payroll Operations Oversee the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate payroll runs. Verify calculations for overtime, bonuses, commissions, benefits, and deductions. Approve updates to employee records, such as new hires, terminations, and pay rate changes. Compliance and Reporting Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations. Manage payroll tax filings, including quarterly and year-end tax reports. Oversee the preparation and distribution of W-2s, 1099s, and other payroll documents. Problem Solving and Issue Resolution Address escalated payroll discrepancies or employee inquiries with professionalism and efficiency. Collaborate with HR, finance, and external vendors to resolve complex payroll issues. Process Improvement Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes and implement best practices. Support system upgrades and integrations to enhance payroll accuracy and efficiency. Audit and Reconciliation Conduct regular payroll audits to ensure accuracy and compliance. Oversee the reconciliation of payroll accounts with the accounting team. Team Supervision Supervise and mentor payroll staff, providing guidance and support to ensure accuracy and efficiency in payroll processing. Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify training needs for team members. Other Maintain open and clear communications with the owners, managers, and other employees of the Company. Comply with all relevant company policies and procedures outlined in the Superior Beverage Group Employee Handbook. Conduct all activities in accordance with local, state, and federal liquor control regulations.

Adept at managing multiple tasks and meeting strict deadlines.
Technological Proficiency:
Familiarity with payroll systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Minimum Qualifications Education - Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (preferred) Experience - 3-5 years of experience in payroll, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role Advanced knowledge of payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paycom, Workday) and payroll compliance Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation, preferred Experience with payroll tax filings and year-end reporting Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism Ability to work independently and as part of a team
