High-visibility role reporting directly to the CFO Own and improve the payroll function for a growing organization with multi-state employees and international contractors Opportunity to build scalable payroll processes and strengthen internal controls Partner closely with Accounting, HR, FP&A, and executive leadership Support a company experiencing continued growth and organizational change Fully remote environment with strong flexibility and employee-focused benefits Competitive compensation package including equity opportunity Payroll Manager Responsibilities Own full-cycle, multi-state, and international contractor payroll processing, including hourly, salaried, bonus, commission, reimbursements, deductions, and other payroll transactions Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing while maintaining compliance with federal, state, local, and international regulations Review and audit payroll inputs including timecards, PTO, leave balances, overtime, compensation changes, benefits deductions, tax updates, and garnishments Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation to support compliance, reporting, and audit requirements Prepare payroll reports for Finance, HR, FP&A, and leadership teams Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities Manage payroll tax compliance, including W-2s, federal/state/local filings, ACA reporting, amendments, and related requirements Oversee 401(k) payroll deductions, employer contributions, reconciliations, and related documentation Troubleshoot payroll system issues and partner with internal teams and external providers to improve workflows Support payroll audits, tax reviews, workers' compensation reporting, and other compliance initiatives Partner with Accounting and FP&A on payroll expense tracking, headcount reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis Develop and improve payroll policies, procedures, reporting tools, and best practices Payroll Manager Qualifications 5+ years of progressive payroll experience Strong full-cycle payroll ownership experience Multi-state payroll experience International payroll experience required Experience with PEO/EOR providers or payroll systems such as Rippling, TriNet, Deel, Multiplier, or similar platforms Strong payroll accounting knowledge, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close support Experience processing complex payroll items including bonuses, commissions, benefits, deductions, and reimbursements Strong systems aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot issues and improve processes High attention to detail with strong documentation and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong communication skills with the ability to partner across Finance, HR, and leadership teams Self-starter who takes ownership and can operate independently with executive-level visibility #LI-LN1 #INAUG2026
