Job Description

Our client with HIGH name brand recognition is looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee high-volume payroll operations for a large workforce across the United States and Canada. This 5 month, W2 hourly position is hybrid (2 days in Menlo Park, California and 2 days remote) and is ideal for someone who is detail oriented and can lead end-to-end payroll activities with accuracy, compliance, and strong team oversight. The role requires deep knowledge of multi-jurisdiction payroll practices, equity-related pay elements, and payroll systems such as Workday Payroll and ADP Workforce Now. You will not manage anyone (this is a high-powered individual contributor role). The role has a potential to become longer that 5 months. Start date is ideally November 9th. If you were laid off recently or wrapping up a contract soon, please apply today!
Responsibilities:
  • Direct end-to-end payroll processing for a large employee population, ensuring timely and accurate pay across regular, off-cycle, and special payroll runs.
  • Oversee payroll administration for employees in multiple U.S. states as well as Canada, maintaining compliance with applicable tax, wage, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and support payroll staff, setting priorities, reviewing work quality, and helping resolve complex payroll issues escalated by the team.
  • Manage payroll data within Workday and ADP Workforce Now, validating employee records, earnings, deductions, and tax updates.
  • Review and reconcile payroll reports, general ledger interfaces, and related records to identify discrepancies and ensure financial accuracy.
  • Administer payroll components tied to equity compensation, including restricted stock events, with careful attention to timing and taxation.
  • Partner with Human Resources, Finance, and other internal stakeholders to address payroll questions, improve workflows, and support reporting needs.
  • Handle payroll audits, compliance reviews, and documentation requests by preparing accurate records and maintaining organized payroll files.
