This position will own the biweekly payroll process for approximately 160 employees across four entities and multiple states. The ideal candidate brings strong end-to-end payroll experience, knowledge of multi-state payroll compliance, and the ability to independently manage the payroll cycle from processing through reconciliation and reporting. Experience with ADP Workforce Now is strongly preferred , and additional exposure to HR administration, benefits, or payroll accounting would be a plus. The salary target is $85,000-$95,000 , with a hybrid work schedule. Duties Own and process the biweekly payroll cycle for approximately 160 employees across four entities and multiple states , ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing Review payroll data for accuracy, including earnings, deductions, benefits, taxes, garnishments, and other payroll adjustments Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage and hour laws and payroll best practices Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, tax issues, and employee inquiries in a timely manner Manage 401(k) contributions, ensuring accurate employee deferrals and employer matches are processed with each applicable payroll cycle Reconcile and submit 401(k) contributions to plan providers within required timelines Partner with employees, managers, HR, Finance, and outside providers to address payroll-related questions and issues Maintain payroll procedures and documentation while identifying opportunities for process, system, and workflow improvements Process monthly insurance allocations and other payroll/benefit-related entries Prepare payroll reports and reconciliations as needed for management, Finance, HR, and compliance purposes Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records and employee information Job Qualifications 5+ years of hands-on payroll experience , including ownership of the end-to-end payroll cycle Experience processing multi-state payroll strongly preferred Experience with ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred Working knowledge of federal and state payroll, wage and hour, and payroll tax requirements Experience with payroll reconciliations and a general understanding of payroll accounting Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with HR, Finance, and other departments Strong customer-service mindset and ability to respond professionally to employee payroll questions Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to adapt to changing priorities and identify opportunities to improve payroll processes
