full-time Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Payroll Consultant to support payroll operations, compliance, and payroll-related process improvements. This role requires a subject matter expert who possesses a deep understanding of payroll regulations, tax requirements, wage and hour laws, and payroll accounting. The ideal candidate will be confident working independently, able to identify payroll issues and risks, and capable of recommending and implementing corrective actions. This position is best suited for a payroll professional who has spent a significant portion of their career leading payroll functions and solving complex payroll challenges. Key Responsibilities Oversee payroll processing activities to ensure accurate and timely employee payments. Review payroll transactions, calculations, and compliance requirements to identify errors, risks, and process gaps. Research and interpret federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance. Analyze payroll data, reconciliations, and reporting to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions. Partner with HR, Finance, and Accounting teams to resolve payroll-related issues and improve processes and controls. Support audits, regulatory inquiries, system implementations, and payroll optimization initiatives. Qualifications 7+ years of progressive payroll experience, including responsibility for complex, multi-state payroll environments. Extensive knowledge of payroll regulations, tax withholding requirements, wage and hour laws, and payroll compliance. Strong experience identifying payroll errors, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions. Experience with payroll systems, payroll reconciliations, and payroll-related financial reporting. CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) designation preferred. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
