Job Description

Job DescriptionJob Description A concrete construction company located in far Southwest Houston is seeking an Assistant Payroll Manager for their home office. Responsibilities and qualifications are as follows:
Responsibilities:
Oversee the preparation, documentation, and disbursement of weekly payrolls. Ensure payroll processing is accurate, timely and aligned with company policies and established guidelines. Maintain payroll system integrity and alignment with time and attendance, benefits and system. Manage all aspects of payroll processing, including new hires, terminations, pay changes, verifications, deductions and garnishments. Quarterly payroll tax reporting. Serve as a point of contact for employees at all levels regarding payroll questions, discrepancies and inquiries. Recording A/P transactions as they relate to payroll. Maintain the accuracy and confidentiality of payroll data and employee records. Develop, maintain and update payroll policies, procedures and documentation. Hire, train develop, and supervise payroll staff, provide coaching, performance feedback and corrective action as needed guided by the Payroll Manager. Contribute to team objectives and support ongoing process improvement initiatives. Other duties that might be assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field preferred; equivalent experience (minimum 5 years) considered in lieu of a degree. 2+ years of payroll experience in a corporate or multi-location environment, including experience supervising, guiding, coaching or overseeing payroll staff. In-depth understanding of payroll regulations and tax laws. Hands-on experience with payroll and timekeeping systems such as Vista and/or similar platforms. Proficiency in Word and Excel. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and process discipline. Ability to oversee sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. Certified payroll experience a plus.
