Job Description

Payroll Manager Ready to lead a payroll team? Come build something great with us. At Vickney & Associates, our clients trust us with some of the most important parts of their business, and payroll is near the top of that list. We're looking for a Payroll Manager to lead our payroll department. You'll take pride in accurate, on-time pay runs, enjoy coaching a team, and be someone clients can always count on. You'll oversee payroll for a varied group of client businesses and nonprofits. You'll work closely with our bookkeeping and tax teams, and you'll have a real voice in how the department grows. What you'll do Lead, mentor, and support the payroll team by setting priorities, assigning client work, and helping each person grow Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for multiple clients on weekly, biweekly, and semi-monthly schedules Review payroll before it goes out to catch errors and keep quality high across the department Make sure federal, state, and local payroll tax filings and deposits are accurate and on time, along with quarterly and year-end reporting, including W-2s and 1099s Manage retirement plan contributions and employer match calculations, benefit deductions, garnishments, and other adjustments Reconcile payroll registers against the general ledger and bank activity Act as the go-to contact for clients, including onboarding new ones, answering tough questions, and resolving issues Complete and file worker comp audits, 401k census, and any other audits Setting up accounts for all out of state employees Keep the team current on wage, hour, and payroll tax changes Build and improve department processes, checklists, and systems so payroll runs efficiently What we're looking for 3-5 years of hands-on multi-client payroll experience, including time in a supervisory or lead role Solid knowledge of payroll tax compliance and reporting, including multi-state Experience with payroll software (ADP, Paychex, Gusto, QuickBooks Payroll) and strong Excel skills A sharp eye for detail and the habit of double-checking totals before anything goes out A supportive leadership style and clear, friendly communication with both your team and clients Why you'll like it here A close-knit team where your work and leadership are seen and appreciated Competitive salary based on experience Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with employer match Paid time off and holidays Flexible schedule
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
