Job Description

Overview:
Summary:
Under direction performs a variety of payroll functions in the preparation, processing, maintenance, verification and reconciliation of payroll/benefit records and payment of funds to employees in multiple states for multiple companies. Reviews and ensures accurate computation or pay and interprets company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures. Assists in the coordination and processing of payroll with outside service provider.

Responsibilities:
Duties and Responsibilities:
Compiles payroll data such as hours worked, sales or piecework, taxes, insurance, and union dues to be withheld, and employee identification number, from time sheets and other records. Prepares computer input forms, enters data into computer files, or computes wages and deductions and posts to payroll records. Provides high level of customer service to employees and peers in departments. Reviews wages computed and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll. Records changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments for each employee to update master payroll records. Assists with periodic reports on earnings, taxes, and deductions. Prepares requests for checks for the payment of payroll liabilities. Keeps records of leave pay and nontaxable wages. Prepares and issues paychecks. Maintains payroll files and terminated employee files. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.) High School Diploma or GED. Two years of experience in an HR or Finance position such as payroll, collections, accounting, accounts payable or accounts receivable)
Preferred Qualifications:
American Payroll Association FPC designation)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability and skill to help with system upgrade/implementation. Working knowledge of government compliance with all Local, State, Federal, Wage & Tax Laws including FLSA Knowledge of Accounting concepts and Control Procedures Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills Extremely detail oriented. Ability to prioritize projects, work quickly, establish deadlines internally and with external business customers, and meet those deadlines.
