Job Description

Overview We are seeking a meticulous and reliable Payroll Clerk to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for processing payroll accurately and efficiently, ensuring timely salary payments, compliance with relevant regulations, and maintenance of comprehensive payroll records. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in payroll management software and accounting systems, with a keen eye for detail and a solid understanding of financial concepts related to payroll and benefits administration. Responsibilities Process employee payroll using various payroll management systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Maintain detailed payroll records, including timesheets, attendance data, and benefit deductions. Reconcile payroll accounts regularly through general ledger reconciliation and analysis of debits & credits. Prepare journal entries related to payroll expenses and benefits for integration into the company's financial software. Ensure compliance with tax regulations by calculating and remitting appropriate taxes and deductions. Assist with benefits administration tasks including enrollment, changes, and inquiries. Support accounts payable functions by processing vendor payments related to payroll taxes or benefits providers. Collaborate with Human Resources to verify employee data accuracy within HRIS systems like Kronos or PeopleSoft. Perform data entry tasks with high precision, including 10 key typing and double entry bookkeeping. Conduct account reconciliation to verify accuracy across multiple financial systems such as Ceridian or governmental accounting platforms. Assist in month-end closing activities related to payroll and related accounts. Qualifications Proven experience in payroll management using systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, Kronos, or UltiPro. Strong knowledge of accounting principles including general ledger accounting, journal entries, debits & credits, and double entry bookkeeping. Familiarity with financial software applications like QuickBooks or similar accounting tools. Understanding of tax regulations affecting payroll processing and benefits administration. Excellent analysis skills for account reconciliation and data verification. Knowledge of human resources systems (HRIS) for employee data management. Experience with governmental accounting standards or non-profit accounting is a plus. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in data entry and record keeping. Ability to communicate effectively across departments and maintain confidentiality.
