QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Equivalent to an Associate's degree or higher with an emphasis in Business and/or Accounting;
  • Three years of responsible experience in the maintenance of financial records;
  • Experience with computerized data entry and accounting systems.
OVERVIEW
Under general direction, assist with the preparation of District Classified payrolls, requiring a high level of skill in spreadsheet use and database management. Consistent ethical behavior and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality are essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for the preparation of regular and variable payrolls for Classified personnel;
  • Prepare new employee information and enter this data into the payroll system;
  • Receive, check, and extend vouchers for part-time and substitute classified employees;
  • Recap payroll by various groups and balance against audits received from the County Office of Education;
  • Assist the audit staff in their Annual Review of district payroll books and records;
  • Answer inquiries from employees regarding pay status;
  • Prepare various reports and assist the Coordinator with other tasks as assigned;
  • Maintain close working relationships with the budget office, personnel offices operating unit, County payroll and retirement offices, and District employees;
  • Distribute payroll warrants and W-2 forms and answer payroll and deduction questions from employees;
  • Perform responsible payroll and clerical work independently;
  • Learn specific public laws, school district regulations, and procedures relevant to the duties required;
  • Demonstrate skill in a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and communication software;
  • Make arithmetical calculations with speed and accuracy;
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
