Accounting Full Job Description Job Overview:
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for providing accounting and administrative support to the Accounting department by processing financial transactions accurately and efficiently. This position assists with accounts payable, accounts receivable, data entry, account reconciliations, filing, and other general accounting standards. The Accounting Clerk plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the Company's accounting records.
Key Responsibilities:
Process vendor invoices and match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents. Assist with prepare and process accounts payable payments including checks. Assist with accounts receivable by processing customer payments, applying cash receipts, and monitoring outstanding balances. Prepare customer invoices, credit memos, and account adjustments as directed. Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies. Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation. Perform daily data entry into the accounting system with a high level of accuracy. Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts. As needed, assist with month-end and year-end closing activities. Mainatin and organize accounting files in accordance with company record retention policies. Asist with inventory, freight, and cost accounting documentation as needed. Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and financial schedules for management. Respond professionally to vendor and customer inquiries regarding billing and payments. Assist with audits by providing requested documentation and support. Cross-train within the accounting department to provide backup support for tother accounting functions. Perform other duties, analyses, and special projects as assigned.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred. Minimum of two years of accounting or bookkeeping experience required. Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting principles required. Manufacturing and/or food manufacturing accounting experience highly preferred. Experience with ERP systems, preferably NetSuite. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent analytical, organizational, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
Working Conditions:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities. Walking and climbing stairs. Able to stand, regularly required to talk and hear. Must have good vision and manual dexterity. Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment. Adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment. Plant equipment noise is elevated requiring the use of hearing protection and seasonal temperatures can be expected. Company-provided Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) must be worn while on the production floor.
