Certified Payroll Specialist Sparrow Company LLC San Jose, CA Job Details $28 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Labor law compliance Confidential information handling Microsoft Outlook Construction regulatory compliance Spreadsheets Research High school diploma or GED Data interpretation Construction regulations California labor law Full Job Description Sparrow Company is searching for a detail-oriented and organized Certified Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations and ensure compliance with prevailing wage and certified payroll requirements. This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills, payroll experience, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Process certified payroll in accordance with applicable regulations and contract requirements Track time and labor hours for prevailing wage employees Follow up with supervisors to obtain timekeeping approvals and resolve discrepancies Generate weekly certified payroll reports and submit documentation to appropriate agencies Research and resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing payroll data Interpret construction contracts, delivery methods, and labor compliance requirements Review certified payroll, prevailing wage, and apprenticeship documentation to ensure compliance with governing laws and labor compliance programs Maintain accurate payroll records and supporting documentation Interact professionally with employees, supervisors, and management at all levels of the organization Review and organize payroll information, identify deficiencies, and request additional information as needed Support the Prevailing Wage Payroll Manager with special projects and additional duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma required; some college coursework in Business or a related field preferred Minimum of three (3) years of certified payroll processing experience required Knowledge of prevailing wage payroll rules and regulations, including California requirements Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with proficiency in Outlook and Excel Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to meet payroll deadlines and manage multiple priorities Strong attention to detail and follow-through Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality Previous experience with a large ERP system, preferably SAP, preferred
