Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for a team in Tracy, California. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for someone who is confident managing payroll from start to finish while also assisting with certified payroll reporting, benefits-related administration, and selected accounting tasks. The right candidate will bring strong accuracy, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively with payroll records, union-related deductions, and financial data.
Responsibilities:
Process full-cycle payroll accurately and on schedule for employees while maintaining compliance with company policies and payroll regulations.
Prepare and review certified payroll documentation, ensuring reports are complete, accurate, and submitted within required timelines.
Enter, validate, and maintain payroll and employee data in internal systems with a high level of precision.
Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including invoice handling, payment tracking, and related recordkeeping.
Administer payroll-related benefits information and coordinate updates for deductions, enrollments, and employee changes.
Monitor union benefit calculations and confirm that required withholdings, contributions, and reporting are handled correctly.
Reconcile payroll totals, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
Assist with payroll process updates or system-related workflow changes as needed while preserving data accuracy and continuity.
Maintain organized payroll files and supporting documentation for audits, reporting needs, and internal review. Requirements
At least 2 years of experience in payroll processing, including responsibility for full-cycle payroll.
Hands-on experience preparing or supporting certified payroll reporting.
Working knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable procedures.
Familiarity with benefits administration and payroll deduction management.
Experience handling union benefits or union-related payroll requirements is preferred.
Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to manage confidential information professionally and meet recurring deadlines.
