This is a temp-hire opportunity with great potential to further your knowledge in Human Resources and Payroll!
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the transmission and processing of weekly payroll for the Teamsters (Drivers and Warehouse employees) and serve as a backup for Office Non‑Union and Sales Union hourly and salaried employees in the Paycom system. Maintains payroll information by designing systems, directing the collection, calculation, and entering of data. Prepare timecards, including weekly paid time off processing, Workers' Compensation cases, LOAs, increases, and other HR‑related issues prior to each payroll transmission. Review and approve all payroll exceptions and balance payroll accounts by resolving discrepancies. Ensure accuracy of W‑2s and support ACA requirements (1095‑C). Create reports as needed for reconciliations, audits, and compliance with state and federal laws. Ensure all payroll reports are accurate and prepared on time to support proper general ledger recording and timely payment of payroll liabilities. Maintain payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures (SOPs). Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence, and advising management on required actions. Manage compliance and reporting for Health and Pension funding in a timely manner. Complete new employees' pre‑employment background checks and/or drug screens. Continuously audit and analyze the overall payroll function for Teamsters (Warehouse/Drivers) Union employees. Serve as payroll backup for Office Non‑Union employees and the Sales Union population. Responsible for HR Records Retention system and compliance, including employee file administration, maintaining files, documentation, and databases per company policy and HR best practices. Maintain sales employees' Certificate of Insurability tracking database to ensure compliance. Administer pre‑employment background checks and drug screening process for the Teamsters population. Responsible for Company's Workers' Compensation data entry for Teamsters. Set up new employees in the Compliance Training database. Set up new employees in the Uber portal. Set up new employees in the Certificate of Insurability (COI) portal. Prepare HR documentation packages for the HR Director (new hires, transfers, terminations) for Teamsters employees. Participate in new hire orientation and 30/60/90 HRIS Paycom system employee training. Assist the HR Director with development and updates of company HR policies and procedures.Desired Background/Skills:
Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes in alignment with relevant legal regulations in a multi-union environment. Strong understanding of HR processes and strong data management skills. Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality. Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Proficient inMicrosoft Office:
Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams. 5-10 years of experience in similar roles Degree in business administration, accounting, or finance preferred. SHRM/HRCI and Payroll certifications a plus Strong knowledge and understanding of relevant legal regulations in a multi-union environment. Experience with HRIS systems required (Paycom, ADP, or UltiPro).Other Information:
