Summary/Objective The Payroll Specialist II is responsible for handling complex payroll processes, including multi-state payrolls, certified payrolls, and high-volume check counts (1,300+). This role requires a comprehensive understanding of Payroll Specialist I responsibilities, timeclock troubleshooting, position rates, and setup/import payrolls. The Payroll Specialist II provides expert support and ensures timely, accurate payroll processing for the organization.
Essential Function Process Payroll:
Accurately process payrolls with a thorough understanding of payroll procedures and compliance requirements. Demonstrate a foundational knowledge of certified payrolls, including reporting and regulatory standards. Handle high-volume payrolls (1,300+ checks) with accuracy and efficiency.
Knowledge of Payroll Systems:
Understand and execute processes for payroll setup, position rates, and payroll imports. Efficiently manipulate and format Excel spreadsheets to ensure accurate data imports into payroll systems.
Compliance:
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws in all payroll activities.
Client and Employee Support:
Provide support to clients and employees regarding payroll inquiries and issues. Assist in escalated payroll problem resolution, collaborating with the Payroll Manager and internal team members as needed. Required Education and Experience Four (4) or more years of payroll experience, with a focus on multi-state and certified payrolls. Proven ability to handle large payroll check counts (1,300+). Preferred Education and Experience Experience with payroll software systems. Associate's degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred.
