Payroll/Bookkeeping Specialist McGowen & Associates, PLLC Clive, IA Job Details Full-time $55,000 - $75,000 a year 1 day ago Benefits Paid holidays Paid time off Flexible schedule Retirement plan Qualifications General ledger reconciliation Microsoft Excel Process improvement Attention to detail QuickBooks Full Job Description McGowen & Associates, PLLC, a local CPA firm in Clive, IA specializing in Tax, Accounting, Business, Personal, and Estate Planning, is seeking a full-time Accountant/Payroll Specialist/Bookkeeper/Administrative Support candidate. Responsibilities Payroll processing for clients, utilizing various platforms (QuickBooks Online, ADP, Gusto, Drake Accounting, etc.) Timely and accurate filing of payroll tax forms, scheduling tax deposits, including quarterly and annual filings, 1099s, and W-2s Bookkeeping for clients, utilizing various platforms (QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Excel). Including General Ledger, monthly reconciliations, general ledger and adjusting journal entries Sales tax filings (mostly Iowa, occasionally other states) Tax deposits utilizing various government tax agency websites (Payroll, Personal, Business, etc.) Tracking and managing billable time and entering it in QuickBooks Online Postage and shipping utilizing Stamps.com, plus ordering necessary supplies Maintain organized filing systems (digital + physical) Client contact and correspondence in a professional manner. Occasionally greet visitors and handle incoming calls Assist with special projects and process improvements Some general administrative work Support others as needed when possible Qualifications Professional and personal integrity Friendly personality working well with clients and team members Recent, multi-client payroll processing experience, including timely and accurate filing of payroll tax deposits, quarterly and annual payroll tax reports, W-2s, and 1099s. Recent QBO, accounting, and bookkeeping experience. General ledger and monthly reconciliation Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online is preferred Strong proficiency in meeting deadlines, including willingness to work additional hours if necessary Some experience with Adobe Acrobat is beneficial Some experience with QuickBooks desktop is beneficial Some experience with Drake Tax and Accounting is beneficial Some experience with ADP Run and Gusto is beneficial Excellent written and verbal communication skills High attention to detail and strong organizational habits Ability to handle confidential information with discretion Benefits McGowen & Associates, PLLC offers a competitive salary, flexible schedule, PTO, paid holidays, retirement plan with company match, and a casual office setting with an office dog!
