Job Description
Overview Local CPA firm seeks a full-time Bookkeeper/Payroll Specialist who will also assist with tax preparation during tax season. Duties include preparing monthly and quarterly financial statements, processing payroll, filing federal and state payroll and sales tax forms, and completing W‑2s, 1099s, and other annual reports, along with providing additional tax return support from January through April. Role and Responsibilities This position is responsible for year-round bookkeeping and payroll processing, including financial statement preparation and timely filing of all federal and state payroll and sales tax forms. During tax season, the role also supports the preparation of W2's, 1099's and individual or business tax returns.
Responsibilities:
Year Round Process payroll for clients Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements for clients File federal payroll returns, including forms 941, 943, 944, 940 File state withholding, unemployment and applicable sales tax returns Assist clients with payroll notices Maintain proficiency in payroll software and financial statement setup Tax Season (January- April) Prepare annual payroll forms including W-2's, 1099's and related filings Assist with individual and business tax return preparation Support staff and clients with year-end reporting needs Qualifications and Education Requirements Experience in bookkeeping and payroll preferred Understanding of payroll laws and multi-client bookkeeping workflows Strong accuracy, organization, and time-management skills Ability to research and stay up to date on regulatory changes Preferred Skills Strong critical thinking and communication skills Self-motivated Intermediate computer proficiency Competitive pay, based on skills and qualifications.
Pay:
$20.00- $24.
