Job Description

Payroll Process biweekly payroll and maintain accurate employee payroll records. Ensure compliance with federal and Iowa payroll tax requirements, including withholding, reporting and unemployment filings and IPERS reporting. Verify accurate retirement and benefit deductions, including IPERS, retirement, insurance, garnishments, and other required deductions to HR documentation Verify accurate healthcare-specific pay elements such as shift differentials, on-call pay, callback pay, incentives, and cross-department labor allocations to HR documentation. Support payroll cost allocation and reporting needed for Medicare cost reports, grant reporting, audits and cost-based reimbursement. Prepare payroll journal entries, reconcile payroll-related accounts, and assist with month-end, year-end, and audit requests. Monitor timekeeping records, validate approvals, maintain audit trails, and support strong internal controls. Track payroll-related grant funding requirements when applicable, including time and effort reporting and Single Audit support. Respond to employee payroll questions while maintaining strict confidentiality of payroll and personal information. Provides AR Deduction list to Business Office after pay run for employee accounts. Ensure UKG system is accurate and works with UKG and HR to ensure accurate setup and reporting. 80% Cross Departmental Functions • Works closely with Human Resources to ensure system compliance and accuracy. • New employee setup. 10% Basic Clarke County Hospital (CCH) Performance Criteria Demonstrates Clarke County Hospital Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to hospital policies and procedures and safety guidelines. Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance. Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position. Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, DIA, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare. Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year. Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.
