Job Description

Payroll Specialist — Normal, IL $50,000-$60,000/year. Full benefits, paid time off, and a clear path to grow with a 100+ store group. We're looking for a Payroll Specialist to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll across multiple states and to be the go-to expert for our field teams and corporate staff, from wage and hour compliance to system reporting. Prior payroll experience is a plus, but not required — this is for a leader who takes ownership, is eager to learn, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. What you'll own Payroll Processing Process accurate and timely biweekly payroll for employees across multiple states. Enter, maintain, and process information in Paycom, including new hire information, hourly rates, salaries, bonuses, driver maintenance reimbursements, tips, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information. Issue or reissue physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge. Compliance & Deductions Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and tax regulations. Maintain and audit payroll records, including direct deposits, deductions, and tax withholdings. Process wage garnishments, levies, and other court-ordered deductions in compliance with federal and state regulations; ensure timely and accurate withholding and remittance. Accounting & Reconciliation Upload and post payroll journal entries to the General Ledger in Sage, ensuring accuracy and proper account coding. Collaborate with the HR and Accounting teams to ensure employee changes and payroll data are correctly captured and reconciled. Research and resolve payroll discrepancies quickly and professionally. Employee Support & Special Projects Serve as a subject matter expert for payroll-related inquiries from employees, managers, and HR. Assist with special projects such as process improvements, system implementations, compliance updates, policy documentation, and year-end processing. Perform other duties as assigned. What you need 18 or older High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in Human Resources, Accounting, or a related field is preferred Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and related software Takes ownership and accountability for their work Is curious, eager to learn, and willing to ask questions Pay attention to detail while understanding the bigger picture Is comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Looks for ways to improve processes, increase efficiency, and solve problems Has a cost-conscious mindset and looks for opportunities to create value and reduce expenses Communicates clearly and works well with stores, vendors, and internal teams Is adaptable and comfortable supporting a growing organization Can manage multiple priorities and follow through on commitments Brings a positive, team-oriented attitude and is willing to jump in wherever needed Pay and benefits $50,000-$60,000/year Bonus pay Medical, dental, vision Retirement plan with employer match Paid Time Off Where this goes Many of our store and corporate leaders started in entry-level roles and advanced through performance.
