Job Description

We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join a higher education organization in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in a contract capacity with the potential for a permanent role. This position is ideal for a payroll specialist who can manage end-to-end payroll operations with accuracy, maintain compliance across multiple states, and support a large employee population. The role requires strong experience with ADP Workforce Now and the ability to handle payroll processing in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Process complete payroll cycles for a workforce of more than 500 employees, ensuring timely and accurate pay distribution.
  • Administer multi-state payroll activities while applying federal, state, and local payroll regulations appropriately.
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records, deductions, taxes, and earnings data within ADP Workforce Now.
  • Review payroll calculations, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues before final submission.
  • Partner with HR, finance, and internal stakeholders to verify payroll changes such as new employees, terminations, and compensation updates.
  • Prepare payroll reports, audits, and supporting documentation to promote accuracy, compliance, and operational transparency.
  • Respond to payroll-related questions from employees and provide clear guidance on pay, withholdings, and related matters.
