Job Description
CREST Collaborative is a Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education approved public school entity. CREST provides a robust pathway for students to continue their careers beyond high school by providing high quality academic, therapeutic, and vocational services to individuals referred by both local school districts and DDS/MRC. We provide programming so students and individuals with special needs can reach their educational and/or occupational goals. By sharing its resources with multiple school districts and social service agencies, CREST programs are able to maintain superior quality at reasonable costs to all those it serves while meeting or exceeding state standards.
CREST is looking to add to its dynamic team. This essential team member must demonstrate a positive and caring attitude and must remain flexible and adaptable in order to meet department needs.
JOB GOAL
To be the lead staff person for assembling, generating, and verifying the biweekly payroll process according to the Massachusetts General Laws, while adhering to Collaborative Policies and Procedures. Provide support to the Director of Finance and Operations and Human Resources Director as needed.
REPORTS TO
Director of Finance and Operations
QUALIFICATIONS
Combination of degree, certification and/or experience in payroll, accounting, business or a related qualification
2-4 years' experience and demonstrated knowledge of municipal payroll procedures
Strong technology and information management skills, specifically Microsoft Office, Google Suites, and ADP
Strong skills and abilities in report generating and monthly reconciliation with state and teacher retirement boards
Expertise in spreadsheets and database applications
Strong accuracy, attention to detail and analytical skills required
Work independently to meet deadlines and collaboratively as a team member
Exercise sound judgment in handling confidential and sensitive information
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Payroll:
Assembling, generating, and verifying the collaborative's bi-weekly payroll warrants
Processing the payroll functions in agreement with various individualized and union contracts
Assisting with processing timesheets for non-professional staff
Maintaining payroll records for all school department personnel in compliance with the record retention schedule
Collaborating with staff to confirm accuracy of data submitted for processing
Other payroll support duties
General:
Ability to work collegially and cooperatively with all constituencies within the school community is essential
Willingness to adjust to the changing needs of the department, with the flexibility to meet those work needs and demands
Cross-train to provide back-up support with other departmental functions

Physical Requirements
Mobility and Movement
Standing, Walking, Sitting:
Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit for prolonged periods.
Reaching and Lifting:
Ability to reach overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally to access and arrange teaching materials, whiteboards, or bulletin boards.
Lifting and Carrying:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis. Ability to push and pull objects as needed.
Bending and Kneeling:
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch.
Repetitive Motion:
Use of hands and fingers for computer work, etc.
Sensory Requirements
Visual Acuity:
Specific vision abilities required include vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Hearing Acuity:
Ability to hear and understand spoken directions at a conversational level, as well as the ability to distinguish and interpret sounds in a noisy environment.
Speaking/Verbal Communication:
Ability to clearly articulate verbal information to students, parents, colleagues, community members, and districts.
Stamina and Duration
Sustained Energy:
Ability to maintain a high level of energy and mental alertness throughout the entire school day, managing the physical and mental demands of the role.
Safety and Emergency Management
Quick Response:
Ability to physically respond quickly to emergencies, safety concerns, or unexpected physical demands (e.g., intervening in student behaviors, assisting an injured student/staff, or performing emergency evacuation procedures).
