Job Description

Salary Range $65,000 - $75,000 / year Job Summary Under the direction of the Director of Accounting, the Payroll Specialist is to coordinate the processing of payroll for the gross pay file submission for the Morgan campus. As part of the payroll staff, the Payroll Specialist is expected to generate, analyze, and evaluate diagnostic reports summarizing payroll problems and their solutions. Be able to problem-solve on issues concerning payroll and the interfaces between Morgan, IT, and CPB.
Job Duties Duties & Responsibilities:
Coordinate the centralized processing of the gross pay file submission. Make corrections and resolve all issues pertaining to the gross pay file before submission to IT in a timely manner. Make sure that all necessary documents are processed in a timely manner. Research, analyze, and process all issues that are forwarded from the Financial Services Unit. Serve as back-up to the Payroll Processing Associate. Must independently organize and execute various assignments by the deadline while paying close attention to detail. Provide excellent customer service to the Morgan campus, the Central Payroll Bureau, the Comptroller of the MD office, and others outside of the campus. other duties as assigned.
Requested Minimum Qualifications Educational:
A High School Diploma or a GED is required.
Experience:
At least 4 years of payroll experience is required. Other Preferences for
Consideration Preferences:
Experience with higher education and a union environment is highly desired. Preferences may be given to candidates with a Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or any discipline. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Excellent attention to detail. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent problem-solving skills. ` Experience working in a professional office setting. At least at an intermediate level with the Microsoft Office suite. knowledge of complex and specialized payroll and data processing procedures. Be skilled in research and analysis.
