Job Description

We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for a higher education organization in Largo, Maryland. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who is detail oriented and can manage high-volume, multi-state payroll with accuracy, timeliness, and strong attention to detail. The role will focus on end-to-end payroll processing for a large employee population while working with systems such as Kronos and ADP Workforce Now.
Responsibilities:
  • Process complete payroll cycles for a workforce of approximately 2,500 employees, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on schedule.
  • Administer payroll activities across multiple states while maintaining compliance with applicable wage, tax, and reporting requirements.
  • Use Kronos timekeeping data to review hours worked, validate exceptions, and resolve discrepancies before payroll is finalized.
  • Manage payroll transactions in ADP Workforce Now, including earnings, deductions, adjustments, and employee updates.
  • Research and correct payroll variances by partnering with internal stakeholders to address missing, inaccurate, or incomplete information.
  • Maintain payroll records and supporting documentation in accordance with organizational standards and audit requirements.
  • Assist with payroll-related reporting and provide timely information for reconciliation, compliance, and internal review purposes.
