Job Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurately processing employee payroll for two locations, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and internal policies. This role supports payroll-related inquiries, maintains payroll records, and collaborates with HR and Finance to ensure timely and accurate compensation.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for employees Ensure accuracy of timekeeping data, including hours worked, overtime, and PTO Maintain and update payroll records, deductions, and tax withholdings Review and audit payroll data to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations Manage payroll adjustments such as retroactive pay and bonuses Prepare payroll reports for management Coordinate with HR on new hires, terminations, and employee status changes Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, garnishments. and benefit deductions Manage year-end processing, including W-2's and audits Support system implementations related to payroll by providing payroll expertise, advising on requirements, and executing testing and validation activities
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR or related field 3 - 5 years' payroll processing experience Previous experience in an automotive manufacturing environment is an asset. Knowledge of payroll systems; experience with Dayforce preferred
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy Ability to handle confidential information with discretion Strong understanding of payroll laws and tax regulations Proficient in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting tools Analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve discrepancies and ensure accuracy
