Job Description
A growing, employee-owned organization supporting the AEC and construction industry is seeking a Union Payroll Administrator to join its Accounting team in Granite City, IL. The ideal candidate will have 1+ years of payroll, accounting, or related experience and possess strong organizational, communication, and attention-to-detail skills. This position will assist with weekly union payroll processing, craft employee onboarding, employee record maintenance, E-Verify, employment verifications, and other payroll administration functions. Prior union or construction payroll experience is preferred but not required. Candidates with a strong payroll/accounting foundation and an interest in learning union payroll are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities
- Assist with weekly union payroll processing.
- Process and onboard new union employees.
- Ensure required new-hire documentation is completed.
- Enter employee information into payroll and HR systems.
- Complete state new-hire reporting and E-Verify.
- Maintain accurate union employee records.
- Update employee addresses and contact information.
- Maintain direct deposit information.
- Update federal and state tax withholdings.
- Complete employment verifications.
- Assist with state payroll audits.
- Support craft new-hire onboarding.
- Assist union employees with payroll portal access.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee and payroll information. Qualifications
- 1+ years of payroll, accounting, or related experience.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations and taxation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel proficiency.
- Strong interpersonal and customer-service skills.
- Union payroll experience is a plus.
- Construction industry experience is preferred.
