Job Title:
Payroll SpecialistJob Description The Payroll Specialist accurately processes payroll contributions related to employee benefits and supports a variety of administrative and data-focused tasks. This role ensures that benefit-related payroll entries are correct, member eligibility for health coverage is properly maintained, and premium payments are posted with a high level of accuracy. The Payroll Specialist also supports accident claim subrogation activities, assists with project-based work involving research and Excel, and completes general clerical duties to keep records organized and up to date. Responsibilities + Post payroll contributions related to employee benefits, including health coverage, pension plans, and 401(k) plans, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. + Perform detailed data entry, reconciliation, and accuracy checks to maintain precise payroll and benefits records. + Review and follow established processes each month to determine member eligibility for health plan coverage. + Support accident claim subrogation by coordinating paperwork, mailing and tracking packets, and reviewing documents for completeness. + Post premium payments from members as needed, maintaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy. + Assist with project-based work involving data entry, research, and the use of Microsoft Excel. + Complete general clerical tasks such as filing, document organization, and order entry to support office operations. + Use computer systems and software tools to enter, update, and retrieve data efficiently. + Provide administrative support and customer service as needed to internal and external stakeholders. Essential Skills + Proven ability to perform accurate data entry, including Excel data entry, with strong attention to detail. + Experience with payroll-related tasks such as posting contributions and handling light accounting functions. + Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general computer skills. + Strong organizational skills for filing, document management, and order entry. + Ability to perform reconciliation and accuracy checks on financial and benefits-related data. + Effective administrative support and customer service skills. + High school diploma required. + Two years of relevant experience preferred in payroll, accounting support, or general office roles. + Ability to work with established processes and follow detailed procedures consistently. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Associate's degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field preferred. + Prior experience with light accounting functions and general office work. + Experience with research and project-based work involving data analysis. + Strong typing skills, including words-per-minute proficiency suitable for high-volume data entry. + Ability to manage multiple tasks such as clerical work, data entry, and administrative support simultaneously. + Comfort using a variety of computer applications and office software tools. Work Environment This role operates in a professional office environment that relies heavily on computers and Microsoft Excel for daily work. The position involves regular use of standard office equipment, including computers, printers, and filing systems, and requires frequent data entry, document handling, and clerical tasks. Work is generally performed during standard business hours in a structured setting where accuracy, organization, and adherence to established processes are highly valued. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Fargo, ND. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
