Job Description:

We're seeking a detail-oriented Payroll & Accounting Specialist to support payroll processing and core accounting functions, including accounts payable, tax compliance, and general ledger activities. This role is ideal for someone comfortable working across payroll and accounting in a fast-paced environment. Union payroll experience is a plus. Key Responsibilities Process multi-state payroll, including union payroll (if applicable), ensuring accuracy and compliance Maintain payroll records, deductions, benefits, and tax withholdings Support payroll tax filings, reconciliations, and year-end reporting (W-2s, etc.) Manage accounts payable, including invoice processing, coding, and payment runs Assist with vendor management and resolve discrepancies Prepare and post journal entries and support general ledger maintenance Assist with month-end and year-end close processes Perform account reconciliations and maintain supporting schedules Support tax compliance (payroll tax, sales/use tax, 1099s) Assist with audits and provide documentation as needed Qualifications 2-5+ years of experience in payroll and/or accounting Strong understanding of payroll processing and compliance Experience with AP, GL, and reconciliations Exposure to payroll and/or sales & use tax Union payroll experience is a plus Experience with systems such as ADP, Paychex, or similar preferred Proficient in Excel and comfortable with financial systems Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
