Job Description

Payroll Specialist Primary Purpose of JobProcess payroll for assigned programs, as well as processing garnishments, travel reimbursements and time-off accruals. Position is located in Bethpage working Monday - Friday in person from 9 am - 5 pm, 35 hours per week. RequirementsHigh School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelors Degree preferred3+ years experience in a payroll environment Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel & WordAdditional Knowledge, Skills and AbilityAbility to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Effective communication, customer service and follow-up skills.

Must have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and confidentiality.

Exhibit a sense of urgency in completion of tasks; flexible for additional hours.

Essential FunctionsProcess and audit high-volume electronic timesheets for biweekly payroll, ensuring accurate employee compensation and proper coding to departments, cost centers and job codesCommunicate with program management to resolve errors for locations/programs assignedVerify and audit entries for accuracy, including new hires, terminations, leaves of absence, rate changes, etc. Update employee department/job code allocations in ADP payroll systemEnsure accuracy of employees PTO benefits in accordance with agency policy Assist with audit and reconciliation of payroll register as compared to electronic timecard reports to ensure accuracyAdvise program supervisors on policy and procedures pertaining to payrollEnsure the timely processing of payrollProcess travel reimbursements, referral bonuses, taxable fringe benefitsReview and enter data for all wage garnishments processed by payroll vendorPrepare pay out of accruals for terminations, etc. Prepare pre and post payroll processing reportsProcess posting of 3rd party sick payPrepare off-cycle payrolls and manual checks, as necessaryPrepare letters and follow up for outstanding paychecksPrepare bi-weekly General Ledger journal entry Assist with special projects as requested by supervisorsCross train in all areas of payroll processingPerform other duties as assignedNon-Essential FunctionsAssist Payroll Coordinator and co-workers, as necessaryComplete employment verifications and benefit forms as needed This is FT, 35 hour per week position- Mon-Fri 9am-5pm.
