Job Description

Description Our client is seeking a Payroll Specialist for a temp-to-hire opportunity. This role is responsible for supporting end-to-end payroll processing, maintaining payroll records, and ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage sensitive information with a high degree of confidentiality. Based on general knowledge. Key Responsibilities + Process payroll for hourly, salaried, and/or multi-state employees in accordance with company policies and payroll deadlines. Based on general knowledge. + Review timekeeping records, audit payroll data, and resolve discrepancies prior to payroll submission. Based on general knowledge. + Maintain employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, deductions, and direct deposit updates. Based on general knowledge. + Ensure accurate withholding for taxes, benefits, garnishments, and other payroll-related deductions. Based on general knowledge. + Respond to employee and manager inquiries regarding pay, deductions, timekeeping, and payroll procedures. Based on general knowledge. + Assist with payroll reconciliations, reporting, and payroll-related journal entries as needed. Based on general knowledge. + Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end payroll activities, including preparation of payroll reports and audit support. Based on general knowledge. + Partner with Human Resources, Finance, and other internal departments to ensure payroll data is complete and accurate. Based on general knowledge. + Help maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local payroll regulations and internal controls. Based on general knowledge. Requirements Qualifications + 2+ years of recent payroll experience in a corporate or high-volume environment. Based on general knowledge. + Strong understanding of payroll processing, deductions, tax withholdings, and payroll reporting. Based on general knowledge. + Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with payroll or HRIS systems. Based on general knowledge. + Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet recurring deadlines. Based on general knowledge. + Strong communication skills and the ability to handle confidential information professionally. Based on general knowledge. + Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, human resources, or a related field preferred. Based on general knowledge. Preferred Qualifications + Experience processing multi-state payroll is highly preferred. Based on general knowledge. + Familiarity with payroll platforms or related systems such as Workday, ADP, UKG, Paychex, or similar tools. Based on general knowledge.
